IL MORO is a short film about Alessandro de' Medici, the illegitimate son of Pope Clement VII and an African woman. The film explores Alessandro's journey to becoming the first black man to become a head of state in Renaissance Europe as the first Duke of Florence, and the trials and tribulations to getting there. With themes of race, identity and family connection, IL MORO tells a powerful story of a young man's journey to self-discovery.
